Remote team building

Tips and ideas for remote teams.

Trust is an important concept when it comes to remote cooperation.
How to build trust and keep communicating positively,
precisely when you want to address each other?

Five tips for teams working remotely

  1. Maintain regular/daily contact.
In the office, you see each other at a coffee machine or walk in somewhere quickly with a quick question. Keep doing that online with Signal or Whatsapp, for example! With one colleague I really need to call, with another that doesn't work and Whatsapp is a workable way to keep in touch.
  2. Realise that online cooperation is really something different than 'live' - and that digital can only replace real contact to a small extent.
A team afternoon or eating out together can correct that difference and is important. In addition, 'live' has also become different! Teams where physical contact was unifying are now struggling.
  3. Invest in communication skills needed for remote cooperation. While in the office it may not have been so easy to 'work on your own', at home it is much easier - leaving aside disruptions that will of course also be there for many at home. Saying what you need to work well together is even more important at home now that all spontaneous contact is no longer a given. This is where communication skills are needed: in addition to being kind and respectful, finding words to be honest in what you yourself need.
  4. Be clear about expectations, agreements. A common goal helps to keep energy. Speak out your goals to the other person, including what you expect from yourself and the other person in doing so. The more concrete the better.
  5. Provide 'food', energy sources. Many of us will struggle to keep our energy up. A working day at home does not have to look like it does at work. If it gives you more energy to exercise, take a walk or do a necessary household chore at lunchtime, it can give you energy in the afternoon to get back to your motivation and concentration at work. What gives energy is different for everyone!

Well-crafted remote team building

Team4Teams does not have its own locations. We are happy to travel to the location of your choice. We are happy to advise you in line with your budget and accommodation requirements. Staying outdoors is the most coronaproof. This is perfectly possible at the locations in your region, but it is also possible in-company or, for example, at a scouting with a food truck.
