Much in government is tied up in rules and agreements. People are afraid of setting a precedent. Citizens and entrepreneurs 'seize' opportunities, for a civil servant it is different.
Cooperation is desirable precisely in government too, but also bounded.
With team building government programmes, a team explores this landscape.

Working together in government

  • Working together in one's own team, from problem-centred to daring to (be allowed to) explore opportunities and combine them as a team.
  • Respectfully dealing with different (and conflicting) goals.
  • Cooperation in a civil service organisation, citizen-centred.
  • Working together in the tension between politics, implementing organisations and citizens.
  • From research, via creating clarity together to decisiveness. Especially in government. That is what we are going for.

With only one aim; to make a cooperation more pleasant and fluid, accelerating growth in cooperation, serving the social task in a police exciting landscape.

Struggling

"And now it will happen as I say!"

Struggling is a right, but going into battle also has a price.
It creates resistance and annoyance.
Too much pressure can lead to a sense of fear and insecurity and an atmosphere of divide and conquer, power and powerlessness.

The desire to move to a cooperative situation in one step is great. In practice, this does not appear to be feasible.
A team that has been working under too much pressure for a long time lacks flexibility and creativity.
Cooperation has hardened.
Intermediate steps are needed to achieve flexible cooperation. Recovery is possible, once it becomes a priority! A mediator or team coach can help start the process of recovery.

Avoiding

"Said among ourselves..."

If you want to get away from a struggling situation, we advise you to first stop feeding the conflict. Counting to ten and distancing yourself is the first step. But note: distancing is avoided, no working together. Conflict remains a problem... Tension can easily rise again.

More often still, we see teams in which there is cooperation, but which avoid contradictions. To avoid conflict, they prefer not to address each other about shortcomings. Too much challenge thus becomes an increasingly serious problem.

External coaching is a catalyst in these situations to achieve better cooperation. Disengaged teams experience this as a difficult step to take. How big can the problem get? But once a first step is taken, the conclusion is: "We really should have done this earlier, it re-energises us".

Cooperative

"Glad you wanted to say it,
here's something for me!"

Who cooperates and connects, creates trust. In good cooperation, attention is paid to both the task and the relationship. People value each other and there is mutual recognition of each other's needs.

Team members make agreements on who does what, focusing on what can be done better. People specialise by interest; not everyone has to be able to do everything.

Appreciation, recognition and the desire to constantly improve are the keys to forming a top team. Addressing each other and giving mutual feedback make it vibrant. Your position in the organisation then doesn't matter much any more, everyone takes his role.
